Architectural photography that will take you all around the globe.
I discovered my passion for architectural photography when I realized that buildings allow photographers a different type of freedom. It’s art for everyday life. To be an architectural photographer you have to work with what’s there, no time for re-arranging a construction site. My playful take on architecture photography comes with a black and white perspective. Their lack of colors is a playground for my imagination. To combine it all I created my own black and white world five years ago. The @ClaraIsAround project.
Ten days in Iceland
Last November five crazy friends rented a van to spend ten days driving and camping on Iceland. This was one of the craziest ideas I’ve ever had. I meet two of the five people at the van in Reykjavik itself. The day I arrived me and friend Gabriel were picked up by the others at the airport and from there we started to drive. We circulated the entire island, from north to south. Seeing almost everything of this fairytale country.
Incredible murals around the globe
From being considered vandalism to fine art, street art has made it a long way in the public’s opinion. Still being true to their origins, street art continues to make social and political commentaries across the globe. Here are some of the coolest cities where you can stamp your passport and take that “insta-worthy” picture while also getting to know the country’s history through murals.
1. São Paulo, Brazil
Being the biggest city in South America, it is predictable that the city is full of urban art. This form of art emerged in São Paulo…
A muslim ceremony in the eyes of a westerner.
The journey started with a flight on December 31 from Paris to Saudi Arabia. Only nine hours later I boarded in a flight to Mumbai. Spending the new years’ eve in a Saudi airport was a very strange experience but old time friends picking me up in Mumbai made the cheap flight worth it.
From Mumbai, l had a four-hour drive to the provincial city of Surat, where the wedding was taking place. The first thing I had to do was meet the bride, Ayesha Malek, and her family. My friend…

The museum’s inauguration was a success and it received about 25 thousand visitors in its first weekend of operation.

Figure it out yourself.
We all have felt that sometimes we have too much or too little time. That something that took two minutes in reality felt like an eternity in our minds. I’ve experienced a lot of it during Freshman year when I joined the debate team. But the other side of this coin is that several hours of procrastination usually feel like a second. This is the my life when writing my senior thesis (due this may). Maybe all this different sensations we have towards time is because of the essentiality of it changes with our goals. If…
A month after the pedophilia scandal was exposed things haven’t changed much on YouTube.
In February, Mark Watson from the YouTube channel MattsWhatItIs exposed the YouTube wormhole that hosts and recommends soft-core pedophilia (see below). YouTube’s recommendation algorithm is facilitating predatory behavior towards children. At the time, YouTube was already flagging the videos and turning off the comments section. Meaning that they were aware of the problem. Such videos were being monetized at the time, and easily available for users to watch. …
This Danish architecture company has merged futurism to sustainability.
Architectural avant-garde has always been negatively received, especially when it involves sustainability. The belief that sustainability hurts and keeps us from the pleasures of life is still strong. Some architects are fighting to disprove that.
One of them is Bjarke Ingels Group, often referred to as BIG, based in Copenhagen, New York, and London. Founded in 2006 by Bjarke Ingels, the Danish firm is successfully spreading the concepts of “pragmatic utopianism” and “hedonistic sustainability” while creating buildings that come from sci-fi movies. Pragmatic utopianism is the idea of harmonizing architecture and…
Meet 4 of the most impressive contemporary queer artists in Brazil.
Queer music has emerged from the shadows and stepped into the spotlight in Brazil. Is it challenging the definition of normal and breaking the old molds and stigmas of masculine, feminine, gay, straight, monogamous, polygamous and replacing them with non-binary definitions of musical styles.
Queer music in Brazil is different than in the USA with its tradition starting with jazz, 1890s, followed by the blues and Broadway musicals. Brazil did not have an open environment or freedom of expression due to its military dictatorship (1964 to 1985). It was…
